11/22 - Wild Turkey 5-Miler (Salem, MA): Nearly a thousand racers showed up for this year's annual Wild Turkey race.  Several VdMer's braved an early Thanksgiving day race as well.  Scott Carrier continues his tear on the local scene taking 2nd place in the 30/34 age group and 26th overall with an average pace of 6:24 (just behind Dean Phillips - 1st in 30/34 class @ 30:46 / pace 6:10).  Shawn Gavin managed to snag 1st in the 35-39 and 21st overall, holding a pace of 6:17.  Mike Riordan also ran, though for a casual stroll alongside his girlfriend at a smooth 9:04, placing 24th in his class...(we all know he would have won otherwise).

10/28 - Wrentham Halloween Duathlon:  Scott Carrier takes Silver for his 2nd Place finish (in category) at this years Wretham Duathlon.  This marks a 5min+ drop in time year over year!  He finished 17th overall out of 200 racers.

9/9 - FirmMan Half Iron Triathlon: Mike Riordan placed 2nd in his age and 71st overall (out of over 500) at the FirmMan Half Iron Triathlon in Narragansett.  This tops off an amazing season for Mike.  To see Mike's full set of results, go here: http://www.firm-racing.com/racer_report.asp?RID=20945

9/5 ECV Team Time Trial: With near perfect weather conditions, the final Team Time Trial was a great success for Vdm.  Though we only had 3 riders (4 rider teams), we were still able to tie for 2nd place at only 30 seconds off the winning team on CCB racers (who had all 4). 

This is the best overall placement we've had in the TTT and tops off a great series. We also took 1st place in the overall TT series (a rider that competes in at least 4 TT's) with the winner being Shawn Gavin.  Shawn also took 1st place in the 30's age group, followed by Scott Carrier in 2nd and Mike Dowd in 4th.  Not a bad showing at all!

8/19 - Mike Riordan kicks butt at Timberman Triathlon in NH.  Mike placed 3rd in his age group and posted some very nice splits.  The prize money looks to have gone 5 deep, so Drinks are on Mike next round!

8/18: Shawn Gavin comes in 4th at this weeks Charlie Baker TT, with a time of 22:18.   See links to the left for all results.

8/13 - Mike Riordan continues to roll on, taking 1st place at the Witch City Triathlon last weekend.  (for full results: http://www.firm-racing.com/result_report.asp?RID=566&type=1.  He managed to drop nearly 5min off his time from '06, proving once again that with age, comes both wisdom and fitness.  To top things off, he managed to post 19th best time on the bike, out of 350+ .  Nice work Mike!
 

8/10 - Mike Dowd came in 12th and posted a 23:55, averaging 24.5mph at the Charlie Baker TT this past Wednesday.  Again, Dean Phillips continues to clean house.   Setting another new course record with a pace of 30mph, he broke Mark McCormacks record of 20:11 set back in '02.  Dean's time was 19:46.  

7/30 - VdM posted a few season PR's in last weeks final ECV TT.  Overall results are posted as well, with 2 of the top slots in 30+ taken by the team.  For those history buffs, initial course record set by Tyler Hamilton was broken again, this time by  local Pro-triathlete: Dean Phillips.


 Also, there will be a Team TT this year Scheduled for Sept 5th.  4 Riders per team.   There will be an after race party at Bay Road Bikes.

7/15 - Congratulations Mike Riordan!  Mike finished 12th in his age bracket at the Long Course Triathlon World Championship in Lorient, France this past weekend!


12 Riordan Michael USA 05:00:04The Long Course Triathlon World Championship features a 3k swim-80k bike-20k run through Lorient, France. At the ITU Congress held in Lausanne, Switzerland on September 4, 2006, a resolution was passed stating, “Therefore be it resolved that the ITU Long Distance Championships will henceforth be double the ITU Olympic Distance event i.e., 3 km swim x 80 km cycle x 20 km run.”

Lorient, Brittany's fourth largest city, lies on an immense natural harbour protected from the ocean by the Île de Groix and strategically located at the junction of the rivers Scorff, Ter and Blavet. A functional, rather depressing port today, it was once a key base for French colonialism, and was founded in the mid-seventeenth century for trading operations by the Compagnie des Indes, an equivalent of the Dutch and English East India Companies
